Has anyone else, like me, been to Paris, but not visited the Eiffel Tower? Visiting a place but not seeing its main attraction is perhaps seriously uncool, but it does enable one to explore the rest of the destination. And with destinations such as Paris, there are enough stunning attractions to more than make up for missing the main thing. I hadn't thought about Paris in years, but the memory stirred itself this summer when I took the family to National Park Krka, one of Croatia's top attractions, and a place of spectacular beauty. Krka. You know the place, whose famous waterfalls at Skradinski Buk are one of the iconic pictures of Croatian tourism, a place where tourists can swim at a safe distance (although, please note, not from October 1). The kids were excited and asked if they could take their swimming things. And my intention had been to visit the Skradinski Buk waterfalls, but we never got close, for there is SO much more to do at Krka that most tourists miss out on. We ended up having so much fun that there was no time to visit the main attraction. So much to do, and so much fun, so much in fact that two very happy smiling faces in the back of the car as we left had completely forgotten about the earlier promise to jump into the water.
